AMD Strix Halo "Ryzen AI MAX" APUs Are Here for DIY PC Fans

AMD's strong Strix Halo "Ryzen AI MAX" APUs, once only in laptops and fixed Mini PCs, are now ready for DIY PC fans. Sixunited, a Chinese maker, just put out the STHT1, a Thin Mini-ITX board that adds these top chips right onto the board. This opens doors for small, strong DIY builds.

Meet the Sixunited STHT1 Board

The STHT1 uses a Mobile on Desktop (MoDT) build. It's in the Thin Mini-ITX size (170x170mm with set low height). It uses AMD's FP11 set up and has a Strix Halo "Ryzen AI MAX" APU and LPDDR5X memory set on the board. This fixed setup is usual for MoDT forms and makes for a tight, full system.

These APUs mix AMD's new Zen 5 CPU cores with a strong RDNA 3.5 built-in GPU. This offers power not seen yet from a lone chip.

  • Up to 128 GB of fixed LPDDR5X-8000 memory.

Storage & Growth:

  • Two M.2 2280 spots (PCIe 4.0 x4).
  • One M.2 2230 spot for a Wi-Fi card.
  • No big PCIe spots for lone graphics cards.

Use and Who It's For

The big draw of this set is the RDNA 3.5 GPU. The high-end Radeon 8060S iGPU, with 40 units, gives power like an NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti, but needs no extra power or the room of a lone card.

With up to 128 GB of quick shared memory, this board is great for small AI tasks, strong all-in-one PCs, and DIY Mini PC builds where both CPU and GPU power are key in a small spot.

When You Can Buy It and For How Much

There is no set price or real start date for the Sixunited STHT1 yet. It may start in Asian-Pacific lands first. Given past MoDT boards, it might come at a good price.
