HMD Global Cuts Down US Work, Says Money Issues Are To Blame

HMD Global, the Finnish firm that makes Nokia phones, will cut down its work in the United States. The firm said this move comes from "tough geopolitical and economic times."

Still Here For US Customers And Helpers

In news they shared, HMD made it clear they want a smooth shift for their customers and helpers. They will keep all promises for warranty and service for items already sold in the US. HMD also said they will look out for workers hit by this cut.

A Trend Of Big Changes

In the US, this cut follows what HMD did in Europe last year. They stopped selling Nokia items and took them off their websites in places like the UK and Germany.

What HMD Had In The US

The range HMD sold in the US had a few smart phones and basic phones. The smart phones were:

  • HMD Fusion
  • HMD Skyline
  • HMD XR21 (this was just another name for the Nokia XR21)
  • HMD Vibe

They also had unique phones like the Barbie flip phone and a phone made with Heineken called the Boring phone.

What’s Going On With the HMD US Site Now

Right now, you can still see these items on the HMD US site, but you can't buy them online. The part of the site where you find where to buy is also not working, showing they have started to cut back.

Looking Ahead New Phone For India

Even with stepping back in the US, HMD plans to bring out a new low-cost phone in India. This phone might have a 6.74-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a Unisoc T7200 chip.
