Minisforum Drops New N5 Pro and N5 Mini PCs for Big Storage Fans
Minisforum just put out its N5 Pro and N5 Mini PCs, both set up as strong and bendy setups for network storage. The N5 Pro uses AMD's top-line Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, while the N5 is a less costly pick with its own Ryzen chip.
The Minisforum N5 Pro Mini PC Targets Network Storage
Minisforum N5 Pro Top Power and Links
The N5 Pro can handle tough jobs, using AMD's fresh tech and letting you add more parts. You can now order it early, with plans to ship by this month's end.
- Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, with 12 Zen 5 CPU cores, a Radeon 890M iGPU, and a 50 TOPS NPU.
- Memory: Two SO-DIMM slots can hold up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 ECC RAM.
- Storage: Great support with three M.2 SSD slots and five 2.5/3.5-inch drive bays.
- Networking: Has both 5 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
- More Parts & I/O: Has OCuLink, a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot (uses x4), two USB4 ports, and more USB-A and HDMI 2.0 ports.
- Size: The unit is 199 x 202 x 252 mm and 5 kg heavy.
N5 Pro Pricing Plans
The N5 Pro has many memory choices (all have a 64 GB SSD), with a $30 cut if you use the "NAS30" code:
- Barebone: $1,039
- 16 GB ECC RAM: $1,079
- 48 GB ECC RAM: $1,311
- 96 GB ECC RAM: $1,583
Minisforum N5 A Less Expensive NAS Choice
Out with the Pro version, the Minisforum N5 is a worldwide option seen as a strong but cheaper NAS system.
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 255. This APU is mainly for the Chinese market and has 8 Zen 4 CPU cores. It misses the 16 TOPS NPU found in other similar Ryzen 200 series chips, which might lower AI power.
- Memory: Can hold up to 96 GB of usual DDR5-5600 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots, but no ECC memory.
- Storage & Links: Shares same key I/O as the N5 Pro, with 5Gbps and 10Gbps LAN, OCuLink, and a PCIe x16 slot.
- Operating System: Can use Linux, MinisCloud OS, or Windows 11 Pro.
N5 Pricing
The N5 starts at $553 for a bare unit (with 64 GB of storage) with the "NAS30" coupon. A model with 16 GB of RAM already in is $48 more.
