Need for Speed Rivals Online Services to End
Need for Speed: Rivals will end its online stuff on October 7, 2025. EA will cut off web help for its 2013 race game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This news came out after the game popped up on EA’s list of future shutdowns, found by Delisted Games.
What It Means for Players
This stop will hit the PS4 and Xbox One games. It will also mess up play on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, that use old versions for online fun. From October 7, 2025, anyone with these versions won’t get to play the game’s online races.
Still, Need for Speed: Rivals isn’t all about online. It has a big solo-play part. So, you can still play on your own even after the online parts stop. This is not the same for some games, like EA’s Anthem. That game only has online play and will stop for good in 2026.
The Bigger Issue
This cuts speak to a big worry in the “Stop Killing Games” drive. This group fights to save games from going dead after servers close. They want laws to stop firms from pulling games people own.
The drive now has over a million supporters, pulling big notice to saving games. Yet, some big game makers say that these new laws would make making web-based games too costly.
