NVIDIA RTX 5050 vs. AMD Built-In Laptop Graphics
A new test from the Hardware Canucks YouTube show put NVIDIA's basic GeForce RTX 5050 mobile graphics card against AMD's new built-in GPUs (iGPUs). They used different setups of the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 laptop for this.
Game Speed Test
The results show that stand-alone graphics are still much faster than built-in ones. On average, AMD's best Radeon 890M iGPU was two times slower than the RTX 5050. All games were played at 1200p and on low-to-medium detail.

Long-Running Battery Test
Laptops with only built-in graphics did better at lasting longer. They tested how long the battery lasts with normal use and heavy use.
Normal Use Test (Web Use)
- Radeon 860M iGPU Model: 20 hours, 37 minutes
- RTX 5050 Model: 18 hours, 19 minutes
Heavy Gaming Test
- Radeon 860M iGPU Model: 3 hours
- RTX 5050 Model: 2 hours, 40 minutes
Wrap-Up
This check shows that though new built-in graphics can play today's games, they are still way slower than the cheapest stand-alone graphics cards now. What you pick depends on if you want the best game speeds or longer battery life.
