NVIDIA Sets China-Only Release for New GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 in August
NVIDIA will put out a new kind of its top card, the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2, just for Chinese buyers. This GPU will first be shown in the early days of August, and shops will start to sell it soon after.
Launch Times and When You Can Buy It
A leak from Board Channels tells us that the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 will show up on August 5th. You can start to buy it a week later, on August 12th. They set up the dates like this to make sure they're ready for the big want for the card in that area.
Why Make a "D V2" Kind
This update is to follow new US trade rules. The first GeForce RTX 5090 D, much like the card sold all over but with fewer AI skills, got cut off because of these new rules. The RTX 5090 D V2 is made to fit these new limits.
What's New in Tech Details
To match the trade rules, NVIDIA has cut down the card's memory setup. Though many main specs are still the same, here are the big shifts:
- GPU Die: GB202-240
- CUDA Cores: 21,760
- VRAM: 24 GB GDDR7 (down from 32 GB)
- Memory Bus: 384-bit (down from 512-bit)
- Memory Bandwidth: 1.34 TB/s (down from 1.79 TB/s)
This dip in memory speed to 1.34 TB/s is key, as it just slips under the 1.4 TB/s limit from the US trade rule.
What About the First RTX 5090 D
With the old RTX 5090 D cut out in China, its spare parts have started to show up on world resale places. For instance, a GALAX RTX 5090 D HOF OC LAB card was seen for sale at $5,500 on eBay, with high-cost tags seen at other world shops.
