Peladn Puts Out Wi-8, a Low-Cost Small PC with Many Ports
Peladn has put out a new small PC in China, the Wi-8. It uses a simple Intel 'Alder Lake-N' chip but stands out for its wide set of connection ways, all for a low price.
Performance and Inside Specs
It runs on the Intel N150 chip, with four Gracemont work-hard cores, four threads, and a top speed of up to 3.6 GHz. This power is much like a six-year-old AMD Ryzen 7 3750H. The Wi-8 works well for easy jobs like web use, office tasks, and watching content. The built-in Intel UHD Graphics with 24 Units is only for light work.
The system has 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 512 GB SSD. For more room, the body has two M.2 2280 slots (one PCIe 3.0x1, one SATA).
Connectivity The Wi-8’s Strong Point
The Wi-8 shines with its big set of ports, rare for a low-cost item. The ways to connect are:
- Networking: Two Gigabit Ethernet ports and Wi-Fi 5.
- Display: Two HDMI 2.0 ports and support for DisplayPort 1.2 via the USB-C port.
- USB Ports:
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10Gbps)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10Gbps)
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- Audio & More: A 3.5mm combo audio jack and Bluetooth 4.2.
Look and Cooling
The Wi-8 comes in a small 120 x 120 x 42 mm body and weighs about 300g. It has a single-fan active cool system and gets power from an outside DC adapter.
Price and When You Can Get It
You can now get the Peladn Wi-8 in China for 1,149 Yuan (about $175). This cost comes with a ready-to-go Windows 11 Pro system and fits for state money help in China.
A wider launch might happen, but no set date is out yet.
