The Day Before Fntastic Lawsuit Fails Court Rules Calling the Game a Scam Was Justified

Court Says No to Fntastic’s Case Over 'Scam' Tag

The group that made the 2023 game flop, The Day Before, lost in court to a news site. The team, called Fntastic, had taken the news group to court for calling their game a "scam." But, the court stood by the news folks.

Why the Court Sided with the Media

The face-off in court between Fntastic and Yakutia.info wrapped up on July 21st. Fntastic had said that the news place hurt its good name by saying The Day Before was a "scam" that did not live up to what gamers hoped for.

As its own proof, the news place used Fntastic's papers. These papers had the team owning up to mess-ups while making and releasing the game. The news argued that it was the bad game, more than the news reports, that hurt Fntastic.

The Sakha Republic's Arbitration Court agreed and chose Yakutia.info's side. Fntastic has 30 days to try an appeal, but it's still up in the air if they will go for it.

How Badly The Day Before Missed the Mark

To give you a sense, The Day Before came out in 2023 as a game set after the world ends, where many can play together. It was a top pick on Steam before it came out but then it failed hard. There were too many bugs, big server issues, and half-made game features. Things got so bad that they stopped selling the game just four days after its start, and Fntastic then had to say it was broke.
