Asus Reveals New ROG Strix and Swift OLED Gaming Monitors at Gamescom 2025
Asus has announced the addition of its ROG Strix and Swift series with three new OLED gaming monitors. The updates involve an all-time favorite model with a refresh for easier usability, a new speed-oriented display with a 540Hz panel, and another one that has undergone brightness treatment in various ways.
ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2: The Upgraded Version
The existing ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG has undergone a minor enhancement and is now known as the Gen 2. While retaining the original specs, 1440p resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 1,300 nits peak brightness, the display introduces three major upgrades:
- TrueBlack Glossy Coating: Utilizing a zero-haze optical layer, this glossy coating maintains the deep black appearance and cuts down reflections, improving the image quality in bright environments considerably.
- Neo Proximity Sensor: The Time of Flight (ToF) sensor detects when the user is not around and transitions the screen to a black image, aimed to curb down on burn-in of the panel for the longer term.
- Reduced Floor Footprint: The stand for the monitor has now been redesigned to be 30% less in footprint, thus allowing more room for your desk.
ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W: The World's Fastest OLED
With care and attention purely oriented towards speed, a new 27-inch ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W was developed to highlight LG Display's new 4th Gen Tandem OLED panel. The highlights of this piece are:
- Extreme Refresh Rates: The fastest of all OLED displays, it runs at 540Hz at its native 1440p resolution.
- Dual Mode Technology: The monitor can also switch to a 720p resolution to achieve an incredible 720Hz refresh rate, putting it on par with the best TN gaming monitors out there.

ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG: A New Brightness Standard
Asus has gone with the new Primary Tandem WOLED panel developed by LG for the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG in a bid to rival the likes of Gigabyte and LG. This model aims to furnish a picture more brightly and richly:
- High Brightness Levels: New panel technology allows for peak brightness of 1,500 nits in HDR and 335 nits in SDR mode; a huge improvement when compared to the previous WOLED panels.
- Performance Specs: Together with 1440p resolution, it also features an ultra-fast 280Hz refresh rate.
- Certifications & Color: The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black-certified and covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color space.
- Connectivity and Design: It features DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and a USB hub, sharing the same stand design, which is 30% smaller, found in other new 27-inch XG models.
Pricing and Availability
Asus has yet to disclose pricing or availability same as for the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG Gen 2 and ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W. The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG, however, is expected around Q4 2025 with a price tag of around $699.
