September 10, 2025, has been marked out for the first major update for Funcom's multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening; it will feature a free story chapter, a separate paid DLC entitled 'The Lost Harvest', and a free trial for new players which will run until August 24, 2025.
The free story update titled 'Chapter 2'
Chapter 2 will be offered free to all players who own Dune: Awakening. In addition to continuing the story, this update will introduce several highly anticipated features:
- Character re-customization for the player
- New hairstyles/tattoos
- New contracts and more randomized encounters
- New armor archetypes
Paid DLC 'The Lost Harvest'
A paid DLC titled The Lost Harvest, with a story that somewhat stands on its own ;also being offered for $12.99 USD or as part of Season Pass. It has exclusive content, including:
- A new vehicle, the Treadwheel
- Three new Imperial Testing Stations to explore
- Five new base decorations
- Four new weapon skins and two new armor skins
- Dune Man-themed building pieces for bases
- A new vibe emote
Limited-Time Free Trial Details
A free trial is available until August 24 for those who are mainly interested in trying the game. The trial comes with specific restrictions:
- Time Limit: 10 hours of gameplay
- Location: Gameplay limited to the Hagga Basin area
- Restricted Areas: Harko Village, Arrakeen, and Deep Desert are closed
- Servers: Players are on dedicated free trial servers
Purchasing the full game after the trial will allow for lot of your progress to carry over, including your story progress, character levels, skills, and backpack inventory. However, you will have to rebuild your base and vehicle. Furthermore, all Solaris accumulated over the 10,000 limit will be forfeited. Players that upgrade from the trial will also receive a handful of cosmetic items.
What This Means For Players
The major content addition since launch; its goal is to deliver fresh content for people who have been through the starting material. By the time it launches on September 10, this update is also expected to include tweaks to the game balance among others.
