NVIDIA Commences Production of Next Gen Rubin AI Chips for 2H 2026; Gaming Revenue Hits Record $4.3 Billion

NVIDIA has at last confirmed making important strides towards its future AI platform, the one code-named Rubin. Indeed, the chips have already entered fabrication at TSMC. During its Q2 2026 earnings call, the company confirmed the schedule for volume production of the Rubin platform in the second half of 2026, maintaining its annual product release cadence. Beside this encouraging forward-looking news, NVIDIA also hailed a record-breaking quarter in the gaming department of its business.

The Rubin AI Platform What We Know

The Rubin platform, like much of the rest of NVIDIA's AI infrastructure, was hailed by CEO Jensen Huang as the company's new "third-generation NVLink rack-scale AI supercomputer." He confirmed that all six newly developed chips comprised in this platform have reached the manufacturer.

  • Rubin Platform Components Comprises the Rubin GPU, Vera CPU, CX9 SuperNIC, NVLINK 144 switch, Spectrum-X switch, and a scale Silicon Photonics processor.
  • Production Timeline Currently in fabrication and volume production is planned for the second half of 2026.
  • Market Outlook NVIDIA forecasts that the new platforms, including Blackwell and Rubin, will help in scaling into an expected opportunity in the AI infrastructure market of between $3 trillion and $4 trillion.

Jensen Huang was very keen to share new concepts concerning the Rubin platform at the company's next GTC.

Blackwell Platform Above Performance Expectations

While Rubin is promising, at present, the best performer for NVIDIA is the Blackwell platform. Blackwell Ultra GB300 platform revenues ran into tens of billions this quarter, with demand being described by Jensen Huang as "extraordinary."Production of the GB300 is fully underway, with NVIDIA CFO Colette M. Kress noting that the transition for major cloud service providers has been seamless due to shared architecture with the previous generation.

Gaming Unit Records Revenue Highs

NVIDIA's gaming division beat all expectations with a not-a-surprise record $4.3 billion revenue for the quarter. It is a 14 percent increase on the previous quarter and a 49 percent jump year-on-year. According to Colette M. Kress, this high performance was owing to the even faster ramp and sales greatness of the new Blackwell-powered GeForce RTX 50 series GPU as supply increased.

Fiscal 2026 Q2 Financial Highlights

NVIDIA reported overall strong financial results exceeding analyst expectations. Data center revenue was more or less in line with forecasts.

  • Total Revenue $46.7 billion, up 56% year-over-year
  • Data Center Revenue $41.1 billion, up 56% year-over-year
  • Gaming Revenue $4.3 billion, up 49% year-over-year.
  • Q3 Outlook NVIDIA expects revenue to be at $54.0 billion in the next quarter.

The company also stated that no H20 was sold to customers based in China during the second quarter and that its Q3 outlook does not include such sales.
