Peladn Launches Link S-3 The World's First Thunderbolt 5 eGPU Dock
Peladn's new Link S-3, the first to use Thunderbolt 5 tech, is out now for everyone. This new model follows the OCuLink-based Link S-2 and is up for sale all over.
Thunderbolt 5 Performance and Compatibility
Link S-3 uses Thunderbolt 5 tech, unlike its last model and rivals like the Minisforum DEG1, which used OCuLink. Thunderbolt 5 can go up to 80 Gbps, but for graphics cards using PCIe 4.0 x4, it hits 64 Gbps.
So, don't look for the Link S-3 to out-do those using OCuLink with the same 64 Gbps speed. Also, it works with older Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 tech, but only up to 40 Gbps.
Key Features and Connectivity Options
The Link S-3 stands out with huge perks from its Thunderbolt 5 tech. You can plug in and pull out devices while it's running and move power, data, and video all at once.
Here are more ports on the dock:
- A 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port.
- A USB Type-A port (10 Gbps).
- An SD card slot.
- An M.2 2280 slot for SSDs.
- It can send up to 140W of power to charge up your devices.
Global Pricing and Availability
You can find Peladn's Link S-3 on AliExpress, with prices differing by region:
- UK: £253.79
- EU: €291.99
- Canada: CAD$384.38
- US: $460.52
The reason for the higher price in the US is due to extra costs from tariffs on goods from China.
