Xiaomi Puts Nine More Phones on No-More-Support List

Xiaomi has now made its list of no-support phones bigger. The firm has put nine more phones from its Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO sets on its End of Life (EOL) list. This means they won't get any more new updates.

Phones Now Out of Support

These models are now out of the running for new updates from the maker:

  • Redmi A1 / A1+
  • Redmi 11 Prime 4G
  • Xiaomi 11T / 11T Pro
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G NE
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 LE
  • POCO M5
  • POCO C50

What This Means for You

Even though these phones will still work well after they stop getting updates, this brings some big risks. Makers generally say to get a new phone to keep up with cybersecurity, as EOL phones won't get the security patches that guard against new risks.

Another way is to put in a "custom ROM," an outside version of the Android system, which can give the phone a longer life. But this needs unlocking the phone's boot setup, a step that Xiaomi has recently made harder to do.
