New AMD and Intel Platforms for the XMG Upgrade of the Evolution Series of Ultrabooks
XMG refreshed its whole lineup of ultrabooks known as the EVO 15 for the year 2025, with models introduced based on the most recent processors from AMD and Intel. The recent range includes the AMD-based EVO 15 (E25) Ryzen AI and Krackan Point APU models, and the Intel-based EVO 15 (M25) based on Core Ultra 200H series processors.
Key Features of the EVO 15 (2025) Chassis
The two versions are akin in that they both share common base specifications and are built on the same 15.3-inches aluminum casing:
- Thermal Performance: Top-tier CPUs can sustain a 90W max TDP in "Overboost" mode due to dual-fan cooling.
- Storage: Two M.2 slots support up to 16 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
- Battery: A large 99.8 Wh battery supports 140W USB-C fast charging.
- Webcam: FHD webcam with Windows Hello and a physical privacy shutter.
- Portability: The chassis has an overall profile of 22 mm and a weight of 1.75 kg.
- Keyboard: Full-size, edge-to-edge keyboard with multi-level white backlighting.
Key Differences AMD (E25) vs. Intel (M25)
The AMD vs. Intel platform choice comes with inherent differences in performance and features.
Processor Options
- AMD EVO 15 (E25): It has four CPU options available AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, AMD Ryzen AI 9 365, AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, and the NPU-less AMD Ryzen 7 H 255.
- Intel EVO 15 (M25): One CPU option is available the Core Ultra 7 255H.
Display Specifications
AMD and Intel, both systems have a 15.3 inches 2560x1600 pixels IPS with 500 nits brightness and covers 100% of sRGB, but differ in refresh rates:
- AMD (E25): Can support refresh rates up to 300Hz with FreeSync.
- Intel (M25): Limited to a 240Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync via the Arc Graphics iGPU.
RAM and Connectivity
There are also distinctions in memory support, ports, and wireless capabilities:
- RAM: Supports up to 128 GB DDR5-5600 RAM. The Intel model extends support to CSO-DIMM modules rated at DDR5-6400 specifications.
- Ports:
- Intel (M25): Has a Thunderbolt 4 port (DP 2.1), HDMI 2.0.
- AMD (E25): Has a USB4 port (DP 2.1) and an HDMI 2.1 port.
- Wireless: The Intel models support Wi-Fi 7 while the AMD models support Wi-Fi 6E.
Pricing and Availability
Both models' entry-level configurations will be supplied with 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and a 500 GB SSD.
- XMG EVO 15 (E25) with AMD Ryzen 7 H 255: Starts at €999.
- XMG EVO 15 (M25) with Intel Core Ultra 7 255H: Starts at €1,279.
Certain upgrades are available for the AMD E25 model Ryzen AI 7 350 (+ €150). Ryzen AI 9 365 (+ €275). Alternatively, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (+ €440). All configurations are immediately available for order with the exception of the entry-level one from AMD, which is expected to ship in early October. A discount of 5% will apply to all models until earlier than September 8.
