Zhaoxin's KX-7000 CPU in China Powers MAXHUB's New AI Desktop
In line with the national impetus of developing domestic computing solutions in China, MAXHUB-the system integrator-introduced a new "AI+ desktop" powered by the Zhaoxin KX-7000 processor. This marks the debut of what can easily be called China's first x86-centric CPU in a self-sustaining and sovereign homegrown ecosystem with on-device AI functions.
MAXHUB's AI+ Desktop Centering on Intelligence within the Device
Built towards handling professional and AI workloads within a 10-liter space, MAXHUB's new desktop comes highly endowed with on-device AI capabilities, which include a dedicated AI assistant, intelligent cutout tools, and file conversion functions. This all-inclusive experience is designed to eliminate reliance on third-party applications.
The Zhaoxin KX-7000 Closer Look
Presently marketed as a direct, domestic counterpart to x86 CPUs from Intel and AMD, the Zhaoxin KX-7000 processor is 8-core, 8-thread. Core specs include the following:
- Architecture: x86 Century Avenue Chiplet
- Design: 7nm chiplet construction
- Configuration: 8 cores and 8 threads
- Physical Design: Features a design and IHS similar to Intel's LGA 1700 socketed chips
KX-7000 is an older offering by Zhaoxin; the company has since unveiled even newer server processors, including the KH-5000 series.
Media Performance and Strategic Importance
In performance assessment, the MAXHUB AI+ desktop proved its capability of handling media workloads easily. In fact, it plays a 1080p 30fps and 4K 30fps high-bitrate online videos, and CPU utilization is quite good for each of them. Though not up to par with the performance figures its Western counterparts provide, this integration chiefly aims to build and prove a complete tech ecosystem founded on completely in-house products. And this desktop does it well.
