Riot Games Announces 2XKO Early Access Launch on PC for October 7

Riot games have announced the day for the early access launch of its highly-anticipated fighting game, 2XKO. The game will be available on PC for early access worldwide on October 7, just after the end of the current Closed Beta test.

From Closed Beta to Early Access

According to the developers, the Closed Beta has been successful. The new characters, Vi and Blitzcrank, have been well received by players, who have even begun to organize community tournaments. Meanwhile, Riot worked on fine-tuning matchmaking and fixing bugs, and with positive feedback, they decided to move to Early Access.

The Early Access version will come with a number of features, as it is now an important milestone for the game:

  • No More Resets: All unlocks become permanent starting October 7.
  • New Content: The launch will introduce new Combo Trials and a full season's worth of content.
  • Tenth Champion: A new, as-yet-unrevealed champion will be added to the mix.

A dedicated gameplay trailer and developer update will soon follow, to share more details.

Competitive Scene and Future Content

Riot is already laying the groundwork for the competitive ecosystem of 2XKO. The "First Impact Program" will sponsor a total of 22 tournaments organized by the community until the end of 2025. These tournaments will start on October 10-12 at EVO France, with bonuses provided by Riot, including an additional prize for duo team winners.

The content roadmap for 2026 comprises five seasons, with each season introducing a new champion, a ranked reset, and a new battle pass.

About 2XKO

Formerly known as Project L, 2XKO is a free-to-play 2v2 fighter set in the world of League of Legends. Players create teams of two champions, getting embroiled in fast-paced battle using unique tag and assist mechanics. While a console port for 2025 was previously announced, it will not be part of the initial Early Access launch.
