Ayaneo Positions Its New Pocket AIR Mini Against Anbernic's RG476H Launch
Ayaneo is now preparing to take on Anbernic's latest handheld, the RG476H, for pre-orders starting tomorrow. Ayaneo coyly mentioned that a new, cheaper Pocket AIR Mini could make an appearance later today to coincide with the competing launch.
A Direct Price Attack
Price appears to be the strongest avenue of contention for the Ayaneo Pocket AIR Mini. Certain reviewers have now settled on price details with an aim of aggressiveness:
Prices were hinted to have started below CNY 999 (~$139). Later, it was announced that the Pocket AIR Mini would start under CNY 799 (~$119). This would make the price about 20% lower than the Anbernic RG476H.
Confirmed Hardware and Strategic Reveal
Complete specifications of the Pocket AIR Mini are still awaited, along with work on its own show. Some display hardware specs were mentioned and confirmed by Ayaneo:
- Display Size: 4.2-inch
- Aspect Ratio: 4:3
- Resolution: 1280 x 960
For comparison, the Anbernic RG476H will utilize a 4.7-inch display with the Unisoc T820 chipset found in the RG557.
Ayaneo has announced that it will hold a Pocket AIR Mini "sharing session" livestream later today. The timing, practically an hour prior to the global release of the Anbernic RG476H, seems purposefully bent on garnering attention for the portable gaming segment.
