Borderlands 4 vs. Previous Games: An In-Depth Graphic and Physics Comparison
Along with the launch of Borderlands 4 came sound arguments concerning its technical performance. Some players noted that it was not optimized; a telltale comparison of videos now lays bare the changes in the series' visuals and gameplay and shows forwards-moving and interesting regressions.
What's New and Improved
YouTube creator Realistic GameZ compares Borderlands 4 with the second and third installations, revealing where Gearbox Software has progressed the series. The comparison makes it abundantly clear that the developers went on to develop the formula with a handful important additions.
- Fresh movement mechanics have been introduced.
- Improved visual outlines, including water trails left by characters, are now available.
A Curious Step Back in Physics
This also represents a definite downward slide with respect to interaction, so that in Borderlands 3, plants and foliage would behave within the parameters of a physical reaction to the character: bending and moving as a result of the player's passing by; whereas the actual experience is nullified in Borderlands 4, where these objects are static and do not notice the player at all.
Launch Context and Developer Response
Borderlands 4 was released on 12 September. Many players complained about its poor optimization; however, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford would still maintain that they were wrong about their claims.
Albeit somewhat put down, merits do have their arbiters. Such merits aside, the claim that it had penalties on the whole world physics as compared with the predecessor has strange contradictions.
