New Cyberpunk 2077 Teaser Ignites Development Speculation
The speculation regarding a new Cyberpunk 2077 development was ignited by a teaser sent out by CD Projekt Red. Ultimately, the unusual post contradicts earlier statements regarding significant new content for Cyberpunk 2077.
A Message from President Rosalind Myers
The message was a call to arms from Rosalind Myers, the President of New United States of America (NUSA), regarding a recruitment drive for "non-transhumanists" to battle a "growing cyber threat."
Our great nation is once again facing the growing cyber threat from those who hide in the shadows... I will not tolerate this, and I know you won't either.
The New United States of America is seeking brave non-transhumanists, ready to help us fight this serious threat... Now you too can stand alongside us in the fight for freedom. Personally, I welcome all who believe they have the strength.
Take our selection test. Show us what you're capable of. Serve the New United States of America.
— Rosalind Myers, President of the NUSA
Community Uncovers Hidden Clues
With no official comments from CDPR regarding the teaser, the community speculated that it hinted at either a new expansion or a possible big patch. But fans soon started digging into the message itself.
By using a hex editor, users discovered that, buried beneath the visible text, a website link had been hidden. This link took users to an image of a single coin, but the file name of the image bears several important indications:
- A Date and Time: The file mentions the date "September 4, 17:00 MSK."
- A Code Message: Also included in the file: "wigvixQWK." If we shift every alphabet letter backward by four positions, this decodes to "secretMSG".
Future Context
The cryptic teaser arrives while CD Projekt is further along with the actual development of the full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. There are also unconfirmed rumors that the next game may have two separate cities, expanding beyond the familiar territory of Night City.
