Forza Horizon 6 Announced for 2026 Release in Japan
The Forza Horizon 6 was announced and will release in 2026, set in Japan. Forza Horizon 6, now officially in development, will be out in 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The announcement trailer, shown during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025, revealed the title.
The game is co-developed by Playground Games, the veterans of the series, and Turn10, the makers of Forza Motorsport. The announcement also confirmed that the game will be set in Japan, which has been the most requested location by fans since the inception of the series.
Incorporating the Culture and Landscape of Japan
In an Xbox Wire post, Art Director Don Arceta and Cultural Consultant Kyoko Yamashita shared insights into the selection of the setting. They remarked that Japan's peculiar mix of traditional architecture like shrines interspersed with modern structures makes an ideal backdrop for a Horizon festival. They added that the advancement in technology allows the development team to create the country in a presentable manner and authentically.
An Evolved Seasons System
Another integration coming in Horizon 6 is a much-more-evolved dynamic seasons system found in the franchise. The newer system is set to offer a more decisive impact on the world during gameplay, Arceta states.
- The seasons would seriously affect how landscape and world felt.
- The in-game activities and sounds were to change subtly.
- The ambience sounds were made distinct enough to instantly inform players which season they are in.
