NVIDIA Unveils RTX Pro 5000 with 72GB GDDR7 for AI Workloads Demand

NVIDIA officially brings forth its updated RTX Pro 5000 "Blackwell" GPU with 72GB of GDDR7 memory. This new variant is 50% faster in terms of VRAM compared to the previous 48GB variant and caters directly to professionals involved in data science, AI, and content creation that require such memory capacity for their workloads.

Important Upgrade More Memory for AI and Data Science

The upgrade that occurs with this new RTX Pro 5000 is the magnificent increase in memory. The GPU uses now 3GB-GDDR7 memory modules with an overall memory of 72GB. The other memory specifications remain the same as its original model, such as the 384-bit memory bus offering a maximum bandwidth of 1,344 GB/s.

Such increased VRAM will make the model with 72GB quite appealing as compromise between the 48GB RTX Pro 5000 and the 96GB RTX Pro 6000.

Rest of the Core Specification Unchanged

Other than the increase in memory capacity, the core architecture of the RTX Pro 5000 72GB is the same with the 48GB variant. Key specs are as follows:

  • GPU Architecture: Blackwell (GB202)
  • CUDA Cores: 14,080
  • Tensor Cores: 440
  • Ray Tracing Cores: 110
  • Total Board Power (TBP): 300W
  • Power Connector: 16-pin

The card still draws 300W of power and has a dual-slot blower-style cooler design. This power-efficient profile allows the card to work in a multi-GPU regime in modern workstations, supporting up to four cards in the same system.

Market and Pricing

This 72GB variant has been designed by NVIDIA to give the users a more price-accessible option between 48GB standard RTX Pro 5000 and nearing $10,000 flagship RTX Pro 6000 which is beyond their range.

RTX Pro 5000 72GB's pricing and release date were yet to be officially announced at this time. Yet observers in the industry tend to expect a premium for the new 72GB version, somewhere in the range of 20%-25%, given the price for the 48GB model currently lies between $4,400-$7,500.

The adoption of 3GB GDDR7 modules for this professional card may also signal potential SUPERTM refreshes for NVIDIA's Blackwell gaming GPU lineup in the near future.
