Team Group Announces T-Force Z54E PCIe 5.0 SSD with Phison E28 Controller
Taiwanese memory products manufacturer Team Group has unveiled its next flagship offering in the SSD department, the T-Force Z54E. The mainstream market is the target for this drive with its leading performance with its controller and 3D TLC NAND; it is capable of breaking sequential read and write records.
Core Technology and Performance Claims
Phison E28 is the most updated controller of T-Force Z54E, which is fabricated on a TSMC 6nm process. This is complemented by 232-layer 3D TLC NAND, and Team Group claims that this is a class-leading storage performer. Following speeds are guaranteed:
- Sequential Read Speeding: Up to 14,900 MB/s
- Sequential Writing Speed (for 2TB & 4TB models): Up to 14,000MB/s
- Sequential Writing Speed (for the 1TB model): Up to 13,700MB/s
However, these claims are only theoretical, so they might undercut other high-end PCIe 5.0 drives in the market, such as the Samsung 9100 Pro and Kingston FURY Renegade G5, which run around 14,800 MB/s.

Cooling and Real-World Performance Considerations
Team Group included on Z54E the patented ultra-thin graphene heat sink to cool these specced speeds. However, the company clearly stated that real-world performance is subject to multiple factors like user's platform of choice, general system cooling, and the workload itself.
There are also multiple reports suggesting numerous online stores that select processors will likely find it throttling the performance of PCIe 5.0 SSDs, particularly if they are Core Ultra 200S. The end user will therefore need to assure himself with enough cooling to match the mainboard from which maximum performance will be drawn.
Available Capacities
The T-Force Z54E PCIe 5.0 SSD is configurable in three different capacities for the select type of consumers, 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB.
