ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Sales Exceed Expectations Causing Premium Model Shortages Amid High Demand

ROG Xbox Ally Sells Much More Than What ASUS Expected, Premium Models Are Really Lacking

ASUS reports that the ROG Xbox Ally has been selling much better than the company initially projected. Despite negative feedback online as a result of its launch in October, the device nonetheless went on to prove quite successful commercially; thus, supply shortages are now being experienced in its more expensive version.

High Demand, Low Supply

In a recent discussion with investors, ASUS confirmed the handheld to perform very well sales-wise after targeting both PC and console gamers. However, specific figures were not revealed; the company only mentioned that demand is extremely high, overturning all the expectations it had for the most premium-tier models.

That is causing a shortage in the market for high-end ROG Xbox Ally versions. ASUS representatives stated,

"Since launch, we have seen that the reaction has been extremely positive. In particular, demand for premium models exceeded our expectations these top-tier versions are currently in short supply. We are working closely with key component suppliers to increase production."

Countering Initial Criticism on Pricing

The biggest thing critics had against the ROG Xbox Ally was its pricing structure. The price for the original model starts at $699 for the base version while an even better one goes for $999. There were fears that the prices would present a barrier to many buyers, even leading Microsoft to spell out the rationale behind its pricing strategy.

But really, strong performance in sales is proven as customers walk in and out, somewhat discrediting pricing levels that denounce ASUS's position on high-end handhold devices.
