Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Benchmark and Details Pre-Launch
Qualcomm is set to formally present the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 on November 26, according to reports. To clarify, this new chip uses the same 3nm 'N3P' lithography as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but there are some modifications. Recently leaked AnTuTu benchmark results offer the first view of the processor's capabilities much before the official launch.
AnTuTu performance and comparison
Information recently shared by Abhishek Yadav on X says that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 scored 3.56 million points in the AnTuTu benchmark, while the purported Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 was rumored to measure-up to around 4 million points. Therefore, that would put the difference at around 14 %. From this, one can conclude that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is not going to be a flagship model and yet will compete quite well with the flagship offerings.
Test Unit Specifications OnePlus Ace 6T
The benchmark result was likely procured from a device that would be OnePlus Ace 6T. It has specifications like
- OS: Android 16
- Memory: 16GB LPDDR5X RAM
- Storage: 1TB UFS 4.1
Architecture and Clock Speeds
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 adopts a similar architecture to the Elite version of "2 + 6" but comes with slightly reduced clock frequencies to differentiate between the two product lines. The CPU configuration is as follows
- Performance Cores: 3.80GHz
- Efficiency Cores: 3.32GHz
Market Positioning
This also opens up a more cost-effective option for manufacturers. In this way, Qualcomm's partners can offer phones with premium features and near-flagship performance without the high price of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
