Arctic Launches High-Performance MX-7 Thermal Paste
The high-performance MX-7 thermal grease was launched by Arctic. The MX-7 thermal paste has been developed for nearly three years and is said to be the most potent material designed for users who rely on MX-7 for their desk CPU, direct-die applications, GPU, and console operation.
Key Characteristics of MX-7
This new formula relates to several alterations to the other Arctic products.
- Lower Thermal Resistance: Probably the most distinguishing factor is that the thermal resistance seems to have been reduced, thus enhancing heat transfer.
- High Cohesiveness: Its formulation has excellent cohesiveness, hence preventing as much pump-out as would be encountered during heat cycles over time.
- Non-safety Hazard: The paste is electrically non-conductive and capacitive, which eliminates the risk of shorting or electrical dissipation.
- Temperature Range: It has a recommended operational temperature range of -50 to 250 degrees Celsius.
Application and Performance
Because of its viscosity and low adhesion, MX-7 needs to be applied by a different method, as per Arctic's recommendation. An efficient pattern of paste application is the cross method directly onto the CPU without any manual spreading; the layer thickness is uniformly achieved under the contact pressure of the mounted cooler.
Though its thermal conductivity value has not been given, tests conducted on an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor showed that it ran 2.3 degrees centigrade cooler with MX-7 in comparison to the earlier MX-6 paste.
