Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Title Update 2.0 Third-Person Mode and New Game+ Have Arrived
Just in time for the game's two-year anniversary, Ubisoft is rolling out Title Update 2.0 for Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Releasing on December 5th, this major update invites players back to the Western Frontier with two heavily requested features: a fully functional third-person perspective and a New Game+ mode. Whether you are revisiting Pandora or starting fresh, the update aims to offer a completely new way to experience the world.
Explore Pandora in Third Person
For the first time, players can switch the camera perspective to see their custom Na'vi character while exploring. This new third-person mode is designed to give you a fresh vantage point of the lush environments. Toggling between views is seamless and mapped to the following default controls:
- PC Press the J key.
- PS5 Hold the touchpad.
- Xbox Series X/S Hold the "View" button.
Challenge Yourself with New Game+
Veterans of the resistance can now carry their progress forward. Once you have completed the final main story mission, "Last Strike," a New Game+ option will appear at the top of the main menu. This mode allows you to replay the story while retaining your hard-earned skills and gear from a completed save.
New Game+ isn't just a replay; it features stronger enemies to match your power. To help you cope with the increased difficulty, the update grants access to a new skill tree for the Sarentu and higher-level gear.
Technical Enhancements and Patch Sizes
This is a substantial update, not just in features but in file size.
- PC 44 GB
- PS5 43 GB
- Xbox Series X/S 30 GB
On the technical front, PC players are receiving cutting-edge support with the introduction of Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 4 upscaling options.
Notable Fixes and Known Issues
Alongside the major content drops, the team has made adjustments to improve immersion.
A significant localization change involves the character "Eetu," whose name has been corrected to "Itu" to better reflect accurate Na'vi spelling. Landmarks missing from the map have also been restored.
Developers are currently investigating a few known issues following this update
- PC Crashes Issues may occur when exiting the game or on startup if Frame Generation (specifically XeSS) is enabled. Using Frame Generation with the Steam Overlay or switching window modes can also cause performance drops or stuttering.
- PS5 Pro Users might notice flickering near waterfalls or wildlife when using PSSR.
- Gameplay Direhorses may occasionally get stuck during "The Wandering Clan" quest, and grenade mechanics can glitch when using the Staff Sling.
- UI The Character Overrides menu is currently empty (awaiting the "From the Ashes" release), and co-op ping icons may persist incorrectly.
