Valve Reportedly Plans to Stop Adding New Loot Boxes to Counter-Strike 2
According to an insider, Valve is reportedly going to stop adding new loot boxes to Counter-Strike 2. In a fresh report, mining Thour identifies Valve's potential plans to reform the skin-acquisition system in Counter-Strike 2 next year. Insiders said that they are going to stop adding new loot boxes (cases) into the game.
Introduction of Terminals
The report said that the loot boxes replaced by new systems called Terminals. This feature will reportedly allow players to buy specific skins directly and will take away the element of chance from current cases.
The miner gave a very important clarification: "By case removal, I mean that no further cases will be added to the game... All existing cases will remain in the game." This shows that the change would affect future contents, not existing items.
Reasons for Possible Adaptation
According to the informant, Valve has two main reasons to change the loot boxes' model.
By this measure, it is a way for Valve to oppose the third-party skin resellers and keep more money in the same official game. In addition, it would make quite clear to the player that this way of buying skins does not put Valve under stronger regulatory pressure from institutions such as the European Union, which, following its concern, is aware that loot boxes are considered a gambling activity.
