Commencement of DLC Production for Hollow Knight: Silksong by Team Cherry
The overwhelming success of the Hollow Knight: Silksong rollout on 4 September 2025 was enough to crash a number of digital storefronts, and the developers behind it-that is, Team Cherry-confirmed that they have started work on new content. Though under wraps for the moment, in an interview with Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, the creators Ari Gibson and William Pellen talked about the future of the Metroidvania hit as well as plans for its expansion.
Expansion Details and Scope
Release date not decided yet, but Gibson and Pellen made clear that the next DLC or perhaps several expansions will be much bigger than the additional content released for the original Hollow Knight. In spite of confidentiality concerning specific details, developers hinted regarding players meeting Sharps and other assassins again in the new chapters.
Future Projects and Hollow Knight 3
As for Team Cherry's plan in the long haul, the studio stated they are not diving directly to Hollow Knight 3. The two expressed that they wanted to further their personal interests, specifically looking forward to planning out projects that are completely different at quite different genres of fantasy to explore some new creative territory.
The Game Awards and Other Industry Rivals
Gibson and Pellen also had a few words regarding the forthcoming Game Awards. At the moment, they are unclear whether they will attend due to their busy schedules. Yet, despite their feeling that Silksong was successful, the developers realize that the grand prize will most probably go to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, all while acknowledging RPG as being a much-deserved hit of 2025.
