Metacritic Names the Worst Reviewed Video Games of 2025

While at this time of year many lists celebrate the best in entertainment, the review aggregation website Metacritic has also attempted to summarize the most famous critical failure of 2025. It is here that they published the official list of the lowest-scored video games based on the critic reviews of the past year.

The Top Three Lowest-Rated Games

The Mind's Eye, an action game, garnered the worst average user score for the year, with a 28 out of 100. Reviewers condemned it heavily for glaring technical issues, hackneyed mechanics, and for feeling incomplete upon release.

Following closely in second was the mobile game Fire Emblem Shadows, for which an average score of 38 was given. While the idea of a trio of players battling monsters with a hidden traitor was recognized as intriguing, gameplay-wise it was a huge letdown according to the standards of the series.

Blood of Mehran, based on Prince of Persia, also got the average score of 38, making it the third biggest critical disappointment.
