Qualcomm Unveils New Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 and 4 Gen 4 for Budget Smartphones
Qualcomm has launched two new mobile processors Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 targeted at low-end and mid-range smart mobile phones. The 6s Gen 2 is an update intended for 4G devices, and the other has been set in place to extend the advantages of 5G into more affordable models.
Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 Enhanced Performance Capability in 4G
This SoC is created upon a 6nm architecture and has been reported to be a considerable performance jumps over a predecessor. The intended application is in devices that would not have otherwise require 5G.
- CPU: High cpus with a maximum of up to 2.9 GHz of Kryo premiers noise 51% higher.
- GPU: Such graphics are Adreno and accelerate by almost 20%.
- Display: Up to gives Full HD+ resolution-with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
- Memory: Run with up to 8 GB LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2.
- Connectivity: LTE modem (up to 390 Mbps download), Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 Bringing 5G to the Economical Devices
On the other hand, a more advanced 4nm process creates Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, which also has a built-in 5G modem that allows the smartphone to connect faster and easier even if it is a budget phone.
- CPU: Comprises of two high-performing cores at 2.3 GHz and six power-efficient cores at 2.0 GHz.
- 5G Modem: Compatible with SA and NSA networks and is capable of achieving download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps.
- Display: Supports Full HD+ resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
- Memory: Upgrades to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage compatibility.
- Charging: Involves the possibility of faster Quick Charge 4+ charging.
Shared Capabilities and Constraints
Both the Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 and the 4 Gen 4 share certain primary multimedia-based characteristics. They are each able to support a camera up to 108 MP and can record video at 1080p at 60 frames per second. However, neither chip includes AV1 video codec support.
Availability
Smartphones, which will be the first to sport both processors Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 are set to debut next year.
