Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Announced at The Game Awards 2025

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was announced at The Game Awards 2025. Casey Hudson, former director of Mass Effect and original Game Director of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, announced the new project: Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic.

A Spiritual Successor to KOTOR

The project is in development at Hudson's new studio, Arcanaut, and has been described as a spiritual successor to the beloved KOTOR series. While thematically related, it is formally considered a new IP. The studio has been populated by seasoned game developers and writers.

Fate of the Old Republic will be a single-player, story-driven RPG that takes place in a galaxy on the cusp of rebirth, where player choices will ultimately tip the balance in favor of that character towards the light or dark side of the Force.

What Was Shown in The Trailer

The game story and related gameplay are presently public unknowledgeable. The developers stated that the cinematic announcement trailer had actually been made using Unreal Engine 5. During the reveal, nothing more was said.

Fans of the classic RPG series will now be waiting for more from Arcanaut Studios concerning the title.
