Windows 11 Update KB5072033 Interface Unification and AMD Stability

Microsoft is releasing a huge update for Windows 11 at the end of 2025 under build KB5072033. The focus of this update is on interface unification, stability improvements for AMD GPUs, feature improvements for portable gaming devices, and consolidation of tools for advanced users.

Visual and Interface Improvements

The update carries on with the effort to enhance consistency of visual elements across the system. The search bar and Start menu have undergone an important change. This release automatically resizes the search menu to match the height of the Start menu, eliminating the chop-off look in prior versions.

It now supports dark mode for notifications in File Explorer. Dialogs for files deletion, copying, and moving are now greatly dark-themed. The blue color indicates copying status, orange indicates a waiting operation, and red is shown for an error.

Gaming Performance and Portable Consoles

KB5072033 fixes some important stability issues for gamers with an AMD rig. Microsoft says the update has alleviated some of the freezing and crashing issues reported on Radeon graphics card users, with the feedback concerning stability improvement coming from users with RX 9070 XT. The update also resolved bugs causing the GPU to be flagged as "unsupported" and stuttering issues on high-resolution monitors.

For portable gaming, FSE mode is now available on all portable Windows 11 consoles rather than restricted to ROG Ally models. The FSE optimizes performance by killing unnecessary background processes and concentrating on the console interface. This feature should make its way onto standard desktop PCs around March 2026.

Advanced User Tools and Productivity

Management of virtual environments has been centralized. The advanced settings section is now a fully featured hub from which users can enable the Sandbox, and manage the Hypervisor platform, Virtual Machine platform and Containers. Previously, these were scattered all over the Control Panel.

On the productivity improvement side of things, the Drag Tray got an update. Users can now drag-and-drop multiple files at once to messengers and other services, functionally working for files coming straight from OneDrive as well. This supersedes the last functionality, transferring only single files through Drag Tray.
