8849 Tank X Rugged Smartphone Features a 1080p Projector
The company 8849 Tech has launched its Tank X product which is a rugged smartphone designed for outdoor environments. The device introduces its first 1080p projector to the company.
Projector, Battery, and Rugged Features
The Tank X smartphone features additional functions which differ from the abilities of typical smartphones.
The device contains a DLP projector which operates at 1080p resolution and produces 220 lumens brightness. Users can easily set up the system thanks to the laser autofocus function which delivers precise distance measurements. The device relies on its 17600mAh battery to enable 120W USB-C fast charging capacity. The phone can also function as a power bank with 10W reverse charging.
The device features an LED camping light which produces a maximum brightness of 1200 lumens located at its back side. The Tank X smartphone achieved IP68 certification which confirms its ability to resist both dust and water damage. The device has a thickness of 1.26 inches (31.9mm) and weighs approximately 26.5 oz (750g).
Internal Specs and Connectivity
The internal components of the Tank X device include modern technology which enables it to operate all its functionality.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 processor works together with 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage to create the system. The display features a 6.78-inch screen which displays content at a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels and refreshes at 120Hz. The device supports modern connectivity through 5G NR, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and NFC. The device comes with a dual SIM tray which allows users to choose between one nano SIM plus microSD card or two SIM cards and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack plus an infrared transmitter.
Versatile Quad-Camera System
The smartphone features a versatile quad-camera setup:
- The main camera uses a 50MP (Sony IMX766) sensor.
- The night vision camera uses a 64MP (Omnivision OV64B1B) sensor.
- The telephoto camera with 8MP resolution provides 3x optical zoom capability (SK Hynix HI847).
- The front camera uses a 50MP fixed-focus lens.
Pricing and Availability
The 8849 Tank X will be available for purchase from the online store starting February 1, 2026. 8849 Tech has not yet announced pricing details for the device.
