Double Fine Reveals Kiln a Team-Based Multiplayer Brawler
The development company Double Fine has revealed their upcoming multiplayer brawler game Kiln which features team-based combat. Players will use a magical pottery wheel to create and control clay warriors who will fight in battles according to the main gameplay concept. The game prototype combines elements of creation and combat to create an interactive experience.
Core Gameplay Craft, Battle, and Adapt
Players will create clay warriors in Kiln who are known as "pots" and can be built for various combat functions. These units include both robust tanks and fast-moving jug-like combatants. Players can use the special feature to change their pots during battles so they can better fight against their opponents. The crafting process contains hazardous elements which can lead to the production of an "abomination" when artists make errors.
Features and Customization
Players can use the pottery wheel to craft new shapes based on their earlier designs because the wheel saves all their previous creations. Clay warriors can be further customized through the addition of handle and sprout components. The trailer for the game introduced different battle areas which included stages that draw inspiration from Greek mythology.
Platforms and Release Information
Kiln will launch in Spring 2026 for these gaming platforms:
- PC
- Xbox Series X / S
- PlayStation 5
The game will become accessible on Xbox Game Pass starting from its release date while Xbox Play Anywhere will be available for players. The game will enter a beta testing phase before its complete release to allow gamers to experience it.
