ASUS Announces ROG Strix Aiolos 20Gbps M.2 SSD Enclosure
ASUS has introduced ROG Strix Aiolos which is an external SSD enclosure that provides high performance capabilities for both NVMe and SATA M.2 drives. The device achieves a data transfer rate of 20Gbps through its USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type C interface which offers double the speed of the previous ROG Strix Arion device.
The ROG Strix Aiolos uses its dual M.2 interface to support different types of storage devices. The system allows users to work with M.2 NVMe PCIe and SATA SSDs which come in 2242 2260 and 2280 form factors. The system lets users take advantage of their existing SATA drives or state of the art NVMe storage solutions to store their gaming titles and extensive media collections.
The dual layer cooling system that ASUS integrated into its design manages the thermal output generated by 20Gbps data transfers. The internal thermal pad which operates at high efficiency draws heat from the drive while the liquid silicone rubber coating functions as an exterior thermal protection barrier. The coating provides two advantages for the device by creating a protective shield against dust and smudges while maintaining a safe handling temperature during periods of intense use.
The ROG SSD Dashboard software which belongs exclusively to the enclosure grants users access to its advanced functionality. The software provides continuous tracking of essential system parameters which include

- Live performance metrics
- Drive information and updates
Strix Aiolos has dimensions of 115.5 x 46 x 15.12 mm and a weight of 139g which makes it easy to carry. The design uses an instant drive replacement system which enables users to exchange drives by simply pushing the mechanism. The transport system includes a metal hook and a fabric tag that ASUS claims is five times more durable than the hook on the older Arion model. Users can customize their lighting experience through Aura RGB lighting while using the USB C cable which features a braided design to enhance its durability.
