Remedy Attempts to Revive FBC Firebreak with New Roguelike Mode
Remedy has rolled out a major free content update for its co-op title FBC: Firebreak. Aimed at regaining players' interest, the game, which is under heavy fire from players and has struggled in popularity since its launch last year, has seen the inclusion of a new game mode.
Introducing the New Roguelike Mode
This update, entitled "Rogue Protocol," introduces the roguelike mode to the game. In this new mode, players battle through swarms of enemies, unlocking upgrades along the way, all in a quest to survive as long as they can.
Effects on Player Count and Future Support
The release of this update seems to indicate Remedy's intent to continue support of FBC: Firebreak. After the update, the concurrent player count on Steam rose to 99, almost double the count before the update. Whether this entry of new content will pay off in terms of a long-term revival or not remains to be seen.
