GMKtec NucBox K16 High-Performance Mini PC with OCuLink Introduced
GMKtec has introduced the NucBox K16 which serves as their newest high-performance mini PC. The device is built for creators, power users, and gamers, featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor and advanced connectivity options like an OCuLink port for external GPU expansion.
Core Specifications
The NucBox K16 is designed to provide desktop performance through its compact design.
The processor uses AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS (Zen 3+ architecture) which contains 8 cores and 16 threads and can reach a maximum boost clock speed of 4.75GHz. The integrated graphics solution uses AMD Radeon 680M which contains 12 compute units that operate at a maximum frequency of 2200MHz. The system features 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM which operates at a speed of 6400MT/s. The memory is soldered to the motherboard and is not user-upgradeable. The system provides two M.2 2280 slots which enable users to install PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs for an overall storage capacity of 16TB. The default configuration includes either a 512GB or 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD.
Connectivity and Expansion
The NucBox K16 focuses on providing contemporary I/O solutions which enable quick data transfer and system upgrades.
OCuLink Port: The external GPU requires a direct connection through OCuLink Port which delivers a maximum bandwidth of 64Gbps using PCIe Gen4 technology. The USB4 port provides dual functionality by enabling 40Gbps data transmission while also supporting DisplayPort 1.4 output which can reach 8K resolution at 60Hz and 100W Power Delivery charging capabilities. The device uses dual 2.5GbE LAN ports and Wi-Fi 6E as networking options together with Bluetooth 5.2 support. The system can drive three displays at once through its HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB4 ports.
Port Layout
The front panel contains a power button and OCuLink port along with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and one USB4 Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The rear panel includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and HDMI and DisplayPort connectors and two 2.5GbE LAN ports and DC power input. The OCuLink port does not support hot-swapping. The OCuLink cable must be connected or disconnected only when the mini PC is fully powered down to avoid any potential damage to the motherboard.
