HarmonyOS Crossed iOS Market Share in China
Now, Huawei's proprietary system, HarmonyOS, achieved a great victory on its home grounds. Finally, as per Counterpoint Research data for Q2 2025, HarmonyOS has conquered the share of Apple's iOS for the first time in market share in China.

Counterpoint Research reports the scenario of mobile operating systems in China, and it now presents the new hierarchy:
- Android: Remains the leader in the market, commanding 66% of it.
- HarmonyOS: Second in position with a share of 17%.
- iOS: Has now moved to third place with 16% market share.
Platform Development and Developer Commitment
Accompanying the market-share news, Huawei released a handful of most important statistics about its platform. The company launched HarmonyOS in 2019 out of the US sanctions, which affected Huawei's access to Android. It looks at this growth as a success in terms of developer engagement and what future development will bring forth.
- Active Devices: The operating system is active on more than 27 million devices.
- Daily Activations: More than 100,000 new gadgets are activated with HarmonyOS every day.
- Developer Community: Over 10 million developers are now registered on the platform.
- Usage of Apps: Applications on HarmonyOS count almost 88 million downloads and updates daily.
Future Prospects
Sales of the new Mate 80 series smartphones are expected to consolidate Huawei's standing even further. No sales figures regarding the new devices have been released as yet, but the performance of the new smartphones should contribute to the ongoing growth of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
