HITMAN World of Assassination Adds Cross-Progression on February 3rd

IO Interactive has announced that a cross-progression feature is coming to HITMAN World of Assassination on February 3rd. This update allows players to carry their in-game progress across more than 10 different platforms. The announcement coincides with the fifth anniversary of HITMAN 3's launch and includes a refreshed look for the IOI Account, which is live now.

How the Primary Account System Works

The system uses a Primary Account model. Players must link their various platform profiles to their IOI Account and select one to be their primary progression profile. The primary account progression will be available on all linked platforms. A Steam patch (3.250.1) will be released next week to prepare for the feature's launch.

What Data Will Be Synchronized

The following data will be synchronized across all linked platforms:

  • Experience and Player Level
  • Challenge completions
  • Location Mastery
  • Unlocks and Inventory items
  • Achievements and Trophies
  • Freelancer Mode Progression
  • Campaign Story Progress

What Data Will Not Transfer

The following data and licenses cannot be transferred between platforms because they are restricted to their designated platforms:

  • Game license
  • DLC licenses
  • Unlocks based on specific DLC
  • User Created Contracts

To use specific missions, locations, or DLC items on a platform, you must own the corresponding content license on that platform's storefront.

Important Note on Linked Accounts

Players should know that all non-primary linked account save games will become unplayable after cross-progression is turned on. However, this is not permanent. Players can disable cross-progression at any time, which will revert their non-primary accounts to their previous state and restore access to those older saves.

HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 Carryover System Discontinued

IO Interactive has discontinued the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 carryover system to begin cross-progression rollout and maintain cross-platform data integrity. Players who have not yet moved their HITMAN 2 progression into HITMAN 3 will no longer be able to do so after 9:00 UTC on February 3rd. The announcement provides players two weeks to finish their carryover process.
