Koei Tecmo Displays 17 Minutes of Nioh 3 Gameplay Footage
The publisher Koei Tecmo has released a 17-minute gameplay video which showcases the new features of Nioh 3 as its release date approaches. The footage shows major changes which differentiate the current game from its previous series entries.
Key Gameplay Changes and Features
The new gameplay exhibits two major changes which affect both level design and character abilities.
Open Environments
Nioh 3 introduces open areas which allow players to explore freely through its extensive open environments. The protagonist will fight yokai demons using two distinct styles which include a fast ninja style and a slower samurai style. The game now includes platforming elements which allow players to perform double jumps. Players must use these abilities to navigate the environment while they battle against enemies who remain unreachable with long-range attacks. Massive boss battles continue to exist as a fundamental element of the game. The video shows a battle against a giant version of a common low-level yokai.
Release Date and Platforms
Nioh 3 will launch on February 6th for PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The developers have also indicated that the game may have demanding performance requirements, recommending that players utilize smart scaling algorithms (like DLSS or FSR) even when running the game at 1080p resolution.
