NVIDIA Presents DLSS 4.5 with Advanced AI Rendering Technologies
At CES, 2026, NVIDIA has announced DLSS 4.5, which is a step-up in AI rendering technology. This update introduces a second-generation transformer model for DLSS Super Resolution for GeForce RTX GPUs and introduces the Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X Multi Frame Generation mode specifically for upcoming GeForce RTX 50-Series GPUs.
DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution More Image Quality for All RTX GPUs
This release's center piece is an all-new second-generation transformer model for Super Resolution. It is five times more potent than the old model and trained with a considerably larger dataset for better image quality.
- Improved Lighting: The model trains and infers in linear space, accumulating lighting with greater physical accuracy to avoid muted or clipped details in high-contrast scenes.
- Improved Clarity: Delivering finer edges, sharper anti-aliasing, and better temporal stability reduces shimmering on surfaces.
- Reduction in Artifacts: Artifacts such as ghosting and trailing for fast-moving objects were severely diminished by the new model, especially in the performance and ultra-performance modes.
- Hardware Optimization: The FP8 precision features of the GeForce RTX 40 and 50 Series GPUs optimize inference throughput twofold, minimizing the performance overhead when compared with the first-generation model.
This Super Resolution upgrade is right now accessible to all GeForce RTX owners via a new NVIDIA app beta update for more than 400 games and apps.
Frame Generation Upgrades for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs
DLSS 4.5 will also bring two new frame generation technologies to the GeForce RTX 50 Series, which will be made available in Spring.
6X Multi Frame Generation
With the new mode, the maximum performance multiplier has been increased from 4X to 6X. It is capable of generating up to five extra frames for every single traditionally rendered frame. This technology can boost 4K frame rates in path-traced titles by as much as 35 percent, thus enabling gameplay at over 240 FPS. In addition, it improves the quality of the visual presentation of static UI elements, such as minimaps.
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation
This intelligent system will dynamically adjust the frame generation multiplier in real time. It works to generate only as many frames as necessary to match the refresh rate of the monitor (e.g., 120 Hz, 144 Hz, 240 Hz). It ramps up frame generation during graphically intensive scenes to ensure smoothness and reduces it during less taxing scenes to enhance responsiveness.
How to Upgrade to DLSS 4.5
The upgrade process will be delivered via the NVIDIA app.
- Available Now (Super Resolution for all RTX GPUs): Users will download the latest NVIDIA app beta update. In the Graphics tab, select "DLSS Override feature - Model Presets" and select "Latest" to enable the new Model M for Super Resolution.
- Coming Soon in Spring (Frame Generation for RTX 50 Series): Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X Multi Frame Generation will roll out to GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs for more than 250 games and applications.
