Capcom Unveils More Gameplay Details of Resident Evil: Requiem
An extended online presentation saw Capcom discussing its upcoming horror title, Resident Evil: Requiem, and furnishing details about the two playable characters in the game and their diverging gameplay styles.
A Tale of Two Playstyles: Leon and Grace
Capcom disclosed that the game was originally conceived to primarily focus on Leon. The development team was concerned that players might not connect with a more vulnerable, inexperienced protagonist. The final design, however, features two main characters to create a more varied experience.
Action Gameplay for Leon
Leon's portions of confinement will feature fast action somewhat akin to Resident Evil 4. His gameplay revolves around using brute force, engaging in skilled close combat, and executing enemies in style. Leon's highlights in combat will be:
- Tactical limb shooting returns.
- He gets to use weapons of certain zombies like chainsaws.
Grace's Survival Horror Experience
In contrast, Grace's gameplay will emphasize survival horror, drawing its inspiration from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7. Players controlling Grace will thus need to conserve ammunition, avoid engaging in direct combat, and use stealth. Specific tools at her disposal include:
- A really strong high-caliber "Requiem" revolver, reserved for special occasions because of its extremely limited ammo.
- The ability to create special injections that make zombies explode.
Enemy and World Lore
The developers noted that the zombies in the game will retain some of their "human" habits, doing some things connected to their prior worldly existence at those locations within the game.
Release Date and Platforms
Resident Evil: Requiem is proposed to be released on February 27, 2026. The game shall be available on the following platforms:
- PC
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Nintendo Switch 2
