In a Massive Shift, Sandisk Unifies Internal SSDs Under New SANDISK Optimus Brand
Sandisk announced a big overhaul in its solid-state drive portfolio. At CES 2026, the company unveiled SANDISK Optimus™ to substitute its WD_BLACK™ and WD Blue® NVMe™ SSD product lines.
A New Brand Structure and Product Tiers
The SANDISK Optimus family is divided into three discrete tiers to facilitate identification by consumers on what SSD best suits their particular requirements. This new arrangement is intended to clarify performance levels for gamers, content creators, and professionals.
SANDISK Optimus™
- Target Audience: Content creators looking for speed versus cost value.
- Replaces: WD Blue® NVMe SSDs, such as WD Blue SN5100.
SANDISK Optimus™ GX
- Target Audience: Gamers who want to have lower load waiting times and consume power more efficiently.
- Replaces: WD_BLACK™ NVMe SSDs, such as WD_BLACK SN7100.
SANDISK Optimus™ GX PRO
- Target Audience: Professionals, developers, and high-end gamers looking into creating AI PCs or workstations.
- Replaces: Upper-end WD_BLACK™ NVMe SSDs, such as WD_BLACK SN8100.
Branding and Availability
New branding also comes with a completely new design for the products and packaging, inspired by Sandisk's heritage as a flash-memory brand. Thus, although the external brand is changing, the company declares that the products would still maintain the same quality and reliability that are common with the Sandisk brand.
The goods will commence under the banner SANDISK Optimus by today immediately. According to the first-half estimate of 2026, items carrying this new branding will be found at select retailers around the world.
