Workers will stop working for three days which begins on February 10 and ends on February 12 in 2026. The executive team made decisions about remote work and studio closures and job reductions which led to this worker response.

The Catalyst: End of Remote Work and Cost-Cutting

Union groups including STJV CFE-CGC and Solidaire Informatique issued a statement which explained how employee frustration developed from CEO Yves Guillemot's announcements which he made on January 21 2026. Employees report they were informed via the press about a sweeping 200 million euro cost-cutting plan. The main points of dispute involve these issues

Permanent Office Return

Staff must work five days per week in the office which establishes a requirement that cancels all remote work arrangements which had been established after more than one year of negotiations.

The company has created a voluntary separation program which will affect 200 employees who work at the main office while they also plan to stop operations at several unnamed studios and terminate existing projects. The unions state these decisions were made without proper discussion during mandatory works council consultations held just days prior.

The unions argue that management creates unmanageable work conditions which force employees to leave instead of the company assuming financial responsibility for their leadership mistakes. The joint statement criticizes the company leadership because they do not recognize the worth of their employees which results in them violating their promise to provide flexible work options.

Strike Demands and Worker Action

The strike includes several direct refusals coupled with demands which workers want to achieve through their strike action.

  • The workers reject all anti-remote work policies which force employees to work under imposed conditions.
  • The workers reject all directives which management establishes through their decision-making process without social dialogue.
  • The executives must accept full accountability for all existing problems within their business.
  • Management needs to act transparently because this is their responsibility according to the situation.

The statement ends with a call to action which encourages all workers to gather as one in unison with the message that our management needs to learn their limitations as we all stand together as part of Ubisoft history.
