Valve's Earnings from CS2 Transactions Exceed $1.16 Billion, by 2025
As per the YouTuber ZestyJesus's analysis, it is said that Valve earns more than $1.16 billion from Counter-Strike 2 transactions by the year 2025. The report includes earnings through case openings and marketplace fees, which are two significant parts of income generated from the game.
Ways of Income Generation for CS2
With the help of a custom algorithm for transaction data collection, ZestyJesus estimates Valve's revenue from two types of in-game activity: number of case openings: according to the data, players opened about 400 million cases within last year. At a cost of $2.50 for each key needed to open a case, this one activity alone raked in an estimated more than a billion dollars for Valve.
Marketplace Transactions: More than 754 million transactions were completed on the CS2 marketplace. Of these, Valve's 15% collected commission relative to the market earnings resulted in another revenue of more than $166 million.
An Incomplete but Substantial Figure
The above figure of over 1.16 billion dollars does not account for the full earnings of CS2 as revenues from battle pass sales, music packs, and esports player stickers could not be considered.
Such high revenue from a single title demonstrates the financial success of Valve's other properties, in addition to the generally huge revenue it generates through its Steam digital distribution platform.
