AMD has achieved an important development milestone for its GPU compute stack through the introduction of Adrenalin 26.2.2 and ROCm 7.2.1. The release provides production support for the open source user mode library ROCDXG through its implementation of ROCDXG user mode library. The system now enables Windows Subsystem for Linux to run Linux workloads that require GPU acceleration. AMD has implemented a modular design approach which enables their compute path to develop separately from both the Windows display driver system and the core ROCm update schedule.

ROCDXG introduces a new virtualization architecture which replaces all existing virtualization techniques from earlier software releases. Developers needed to install complete Radeon Software for Linux packages in order to use computing features within virtual machines. The solution operates as a user mode bridge which sends data through the Microsoft DXCore interface.
