Lenovo presents its AI Work Companion and Workmate Concepts at MWC 2026
Lenovo presented two innovative AI assistant concepts during MWC 2026 which will transform workplace efficiency. The AI Work Companion and the AI Workmate personal AI hardware systems which both create different value propositions.
The AI Work Companion functions as a central productivity station. The AI Work Companion functions as a desktop gadget which resembles a traditional timekeeping device. The device contains a screen together with a large red button which users can modify. The device establishes the connection link which enables users to operate their physical devices according to their scheduled activities.
External devices work together with the system to show tasks which are currently being performed while the system tracks display time. Users can create virtual dials and widgets which include both shortcut buttons for ChatGPT and battery monitoring tools for their connected laptops. The device operates as a USB hub when it connects to a PC by providing two USB A ports and one USB C port and an HDMI output.
The device operates in Standalone Mode through its three core ports which include an Ethernet port and a 20W USB C charging port and a built in 100 cm retractable USB C cable.
The AI Workmate Concept introduces a system which enables people to deal with intelligent machines through advanced methods. The device uses local neural networks to perform data processing which improves user security while providing faster results. The system delivers two core functions which include document management and spatial awareness.
- Content Processing The device can listen to conversations, summarize documents, scan text, and organize digital notes.
- It recognizes handwriting together with physical movements and spatial movements to create a visual display which shows the results.
- The system includes a built in projector which projects images and information onto surfaces within its proximity.
The current status shows that both AI Work Companion and AI Workmate have received classification as Concept devices from Lenovo. The company has not revealed a date for commercial launch or provided complete technical specifications by March 2026. Lenovo uses these demonstrations to display its approach toward integrating local AI systems into both business environments and personal workplaces. The system performs document analysis through AI technology together with gesture functionality and projection capabilities.
