Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Battery Expansion and Camera Hardware Details

Samsung has revealed the technical specifications for its Galaxy Z Fold 8 device which uses the codename Q8 as its reference point. The 2026 model introduces its first substantial battery capacity enhancement because it uses new battery technology which delivers increased battery density.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will use a dual cell system which delivers more power than its previous models which had a maximum capacity of 4400mAh. The internal testing shows that Samsung will sell the product with a capacity of 5000mAh while its actual capacity stands at 4845 mAh.

  • Advertised Capacity 5000 mAh

The Fold 8 battery capacity now matches the power storage of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Evidence shows which includes a 2393 mAh cell that a second battery system is undergoing testing for a product code named H8 which will probably have a marketable capacity of 4900mAh.

The exterior design receives improvements while the Q8 model maintains its original camera system through new sensor additions and existing equipment preservation. The most significant advancement occurs because the ultra wide and telephoto sensors now match the premium S series specifications.

  • The Ultra Wide Lens now has a 50 megapixel sensor which matches the specifications of the S25 Ultra
  • Telephoto Lens The resolution now reaches 12 megapixels while maintaining the previous 3x optical zoom capability
  • Front Facing Cameras The internal and cover displays will maintain their use of 10 megapixel sensors

Samsung is currently developing two distinct versions of the foldable. The Q8 serves as the standard flagship device for this line. The company currently develops a second device which uses H8 as its codename. The current evidence indicates that the H8 will offer the same 50 megapixel ultra wide camera but its exact market position as either a Fold Wide or Fan Edition product remains unclear.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will officially launch in July 2026 according to present expectations. The hardware enhancements indicate that Samsung focuses on extending battery life while improving ultra wide photography capabilities so the Fold 8 can compete against rising numbers of foldable devices with high capacity batteries.
