Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Production Is Reportedly Ending March 17 2026 as the Company Focuses on Technological Research and Cost Reductions Despite Massive Success
Samsung plans to stop production of its Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone from March 17 2026 according to South Korean industry sources. The device launched three months earlier before its official termination date. The smartphone will be removed from South Korean stores today while United States customers can buy it until retailers run out of their current stock.
The decision to stop production work does not stem from underwhelming sales performance. On the contrary, the Galaxy Z TriFold has achieved record high demand which leads to its complete inventory disappearance within two to five minutes after restocking. The decision sources mentioned two main strategic reasons which lead to this choice.
- Technological Demonstration Samsung developed the TriFold system to demonstrate its technological superiority over competing folding display technologies.
- Margin and Component Costs The triple folding mechanism faces high production costs while the company sets a low retail price which makes it impossible to maintain current pricing.
The Galaxy Z TriFold was produced in highly restricted quantities which caused fluctuations in its secondary market value. The device appears in classified listings throughout South Korea with prices reaching $6,700 which exceeds its $2,000 recommended retail price (RRP) by a significant amount.

The device will enter end of life status in its home market on March 17 2026. The smartphone remains available in the US market through existing inventory for international customers. Samsung does not plan to restock or produce additional units of this hardware version after the current units sell out.
The triple folding form factor exists as a working technology yet Samsung has decided to return to research and development work for cost reductions before bringing this technology to mass production.
