Housemarque Outlines PS5 Pro Technical Upgrades for Saros Featuring PSSR Upscaling Enhanced Visuals 60fps Stability and DualSense Integration
Housemarque has officially outlined the technical trajectory for its upcoming action title Saros ahead of its scheduled April 30 2026 debut. The studio has positioned the project as a showcase for current generation hardware particularly for the PlayStation 5 Pro. The team has confirmed that the Pro version will utilize the latest iteration of PSSR the March update of Sony's upscaling technology to bridge the visual gap between reconstructed imagery and native 4K output.
Technical Director Seppo Halonen provided clarity on the studio's approach to scaling noting that the base render resolution has been increased specifically for the PS5 Pro. The title can now run at 60 frames per second because the developers established a stronger visual foundation for the upscaler. The standard PlayStation 5 version achieves 60fps stability throughout its gameplay while the Pro variant shows improvements through enhanced visual quality for each scene which includes better global reflections and lighting effects. The studio confirmed that key cinematics will deviate from the high frame rate target opting instead for a 30fps mode to prioritize peak resolution character lighting and complex post processing effects.
The development team has developed tactile and auditory experiences which create immersive environments for players. Housemarque has built the project using an advanced version of the Tempest 3D AudioTech architecture which they used in their previous game Returnal. The system provides users with improved ability to navigate their surroundings through its extended environmental audio and combat audio functions. The studio has increased its deployment of the DualSense controller features through expanded support for its adaptive triggers. Players can control their combat pace through the L2 trigger which enables them to use dual stage input that lets them fire auxiliary weapons through halfway pull and access high powered Eclipse driven armaments through complete pull.
The studio is also emphasizing low latency transitions enabled by the PlayStation 5's solid state storage architecture. The speed enhancements enable players to experience uninterrupted gameplay because they help the game function during its environmental transitions which occur during eclipse events. Housemarque revealed an early access incentive for Digital Deluxe Edition purchasers which lets them access the title two days before its April 30 launch date. The offering includes cosmetic suits which reference PlayStation Studios history through designs based on Returnal God of War and Ghost of Yotei while all pre order tiers provide additional armor sets to customers.
